Art Theory
Students from all areas of the School are involved in the Art Theory Workshop program. The courses offered at undergraduate level aim to develop students’ analytical skills and encourage participation in critical debates concerning historical and contemporary theory and practice in the visual arts, digital arts, craft and design. At Postgraduate level, emphasis is on developing analytical and critical abilities in relation to individual student's research projects. Undergraduate Study Postgraduate Students Two graduate theory courses are offered to coursework students that introduce a range of methods for the study, interpretation and evaluation of works of art, digital art, craft and design structured through first-hand study of key images, objects and texts. Research students undertaking the School's 'Option D' program also take these courses. The Art Theory Workshop also provides supervision for research students undertaking the Research degrees, Master of Philosophy and Doctor of Philosophy. Supervisors assist with the dissertation component of student's research, and also attend the weekly postgraduate seminar program. All Postgraduate students may audit undergraduate theory courses in consultation with their supervisors and the lecturer concerned. For further information. Contact: Anne.Brennan@anu.edu.au. |
