Dr Charlotte Galloway attends Indo-Pacific Prehistory Association conference

Dr Charlotte Galloway attended the Indo-Pacific Prehistory Association conference in Siem Reap 12-17 January 2014. Participating in a panel on 'Contemporary Uses of the Past in Southeast Asia', her paper, 'A night at the museum, bringing a Pyu reliquary to life' traced the history and changing context and meaning of an important 6th century artifact since it was excavated by western archaeologists in 1926. The conference, held around every 4 years, is invaluable for meeting international colleagues, and hearing about current research dealing with the pre-history of the broad Indo-Pacific region. Topics presented also covered many contemporary concerns such as heritage management of significant sites and looting of antiquities.
