Visual Arts Access

The Visual Arts Access Program was established to provide the Canberra community and surrounding region with access to a full range of visual art, craft and design disciplines in the dynamic atmosphere of the ANU School of Art.  It is administered centrally by the ANU Centre for Continuing Education.

Day, evening and weekend classes are offered for all levels of expertise in areas such as etching, lithography, ceramics, photography, sculpture, cabinet making, woodwork, textiles, glass, jewellery, life drawing, landscape drawing, watercolour, folio preparation, general drawing, computer aided art and a variety of painting media.

Courses are available at basic, intermediate and advanced levels allowing students to follow through a course of study. In addition, short intensive courses and field trips are sometimes held over three to five days. Previous field trips have included expeditions to Central Australia and Charlottes Pass, and have focused on botanical illustration, landscape painting and drawing.

Students who enrol in the VAA Program have access to the School of Art's specialist visual arts library, including computer catalogues, audio-visual library and CD-ROM resources.
