Cathy Franzi

Position: Sessional Lecturer

PhD (ANU), MVA (ANU), BSc (USyd)

I am currently undertaking postgraduate research in Ceramics at the Australian National University School of Art & Design. My research interests include the representation of Australian flora in the ceramic medium from settlement to the 21st century, and to determine how prevailing attitudes and understanding of the Australian environment has shaped this. My arts practice spans twenty years and has included teaching ceramics to children in schools, specialized courses at the Canberra Potters’ Society, and tutoring at undergraduate level. My work experience includes a residency in Ireland for two years and making tableware as a production thrower in Adelaide at the Jam Factory Craft Workshops and with Bison Homewares in Canberra.
