Workshop: Printmedia-and-Drawing

Wendy Murray is a Sydney-based artist. Her artworks are informed by her knowledge of street art and graffiti and her interest in psycho-geography and the concept of the derive, or unplanned journey. Wendy was project coordinator for the MAY’S Lane Street Art project, 2008-2012. She currently lectures in Printmedia at Sydney College of the Arts.

Wendy has won several grants and being recognised for her socially engaged approach through grants including the 2014 Hobsons Bay Mayoral Fund to seed a social enterprise for at risk youth and recipient of the Copyright Agency Career Fund. Recent project ‘Behind this smile’ was a shortlisted finalist for the 2015 ’Racism It Stops With Me’ Human Rights Award.

Wendy has undertaken several residencies including Lake Macquarie City Gallery, Hill End, Bundanon and the Art Vault.  Murray’s teaching practice is also diverse, lecturing at Sydney College of Fine Art, Melbourne University and National Art School, developing and facilitating the Mesh Mash outreach program in western Melbourne and delivering screen-printing classes at Megalo Print Studio, Canberra.
