The 2009 Open Day will be held on Saturday 29 August. The School of Art runs a varied program of events, demonstrations, exhibitions, and ‘hands-on’ activities. Teaching staff from all Workshops and Studios are available to provide information on courses and discuss possible courses of study with prospective students and explain teaching methods and techniques.

All Workshops are open for inspection with activities, demonstrations, displays and tours. Activitities include:

· Demonstration of wheel throwing, hand-building, Raku firing and kiln processes. Have-a-go, have-a-throw: try pottery making on the wheel for kids. Student work for sale.
· Demonstrations of glass making techniques including glass blowing, flame working and bead making. Visitors are invited to design a goblet, the winning design is made on the day.
· Precious metal casting demos. Each year there are Raffles for precious objects. Tickets on sale all day.
· Students and staff will offer guided tours of Painting studios displaying a wide range of contemporary approaches.
· Darkroom Tours - tours through the dark; Recent Moving Images Work and Video.
· T-shirts, badges, prints on sale.
· Exhibitions of student work.
· Demonstrations in lithography, relief printing, etching and screen printing.
· Foundry display.
· Demonstrations of textile techniques. For sale: student designed and printed products and ANU printed aprons.
