The Bachelor of Design Arts Honours and Bachelor of Visual Arts Honours programs give those who have excelled in a relevant Bachelor degree the opportunity to develop and extend their abilities. Each offers a focused program of investigation as preparation for higher degree study and/or for high level independent professional practice.
A research proposal is submitted as part of the application process and on admission students engage in a two semester-long Design Arts Studio Research or Visual Arts Research Project under the supervision of Workshop staff. On completion, assessment is based on a body of visual art or design works or a digital production. This is accompanied by a 5000 word exegesis discussing the project’s development and outlining its historical/theoretical and cultural contexts. Applications are welcomed from both national and international students in the following areas:
BDA Honours: Ceramics Design Arts, Furniture Design Arts, Glass Design Arts, Gold and Silversmithing Arts or Textiles Design Arts. Projects in other Workshops may be negotiated.
BVA Honours: Animation & Video/Digital Arts, Ceramics, Furniture, Glass, Gold and Silversmithing, Painting, Photomedia, Printmedia and Drawing, Sculpture or Textiles.
